FAQ

What to expect? At Wellness SLC, we believe that the client has the power to make decisions and improve their own health. We try our best to understand you and help create a plan that fits within your needs. Once you enroll in a package, you will be asked to complete a variety of assessments. These assessments are important in guiding your coaching session. The first coaching session will be a free consultation created to ask any questions and discuss your needs. Every session you will be asked to complete different tasks, such as keeping a journal, goal setting, or documenting your activity minutes.

How does it work? The foundation of Wellness SLC is incremental change through a trade-up concept. Diets are often very restrictive only causing you to feel guilt and ashamed. These diets are difficult to maintain for a long period of time. The programs offered at Wellness SLC are designed to empower you to make incremental changes through assessments and goal setting. The program is also designed to teach you the basic skills you need to make health decisions every day of your life. The dietary eating patterns are based upon evidence-based research. The program focuses on the DASH, the Mediterranean, and Whole-Food, Plant-Based eating patterns. Weight loss is not the primary goal, however, it is an outcome of our programs.

What is Healthie? Healthie is an application use to track your progress and manage appointments, documents, and invoicing. This is third-party organization that specializes in health and wellness programs.

Wellness Coach vs. Other Health Professionals. A wellness coach can assist with a variety of different health changes. These services include, but are not limited to, weight management, exercise, nutrition, stress, goal setting, overcoming obstacles, and mindful eating. Health and Wellness Coaches do not diagnose or prescribe, however, they can assist you with creating a healthier lifestyle. A health and wellness coach will help you manage life’s challenges and overcome obstacles that prevent you from having a healthier life. Additionally, coaches help keep you accountable for the goals you’ve created. They provide encouragement, strategies, and solutions. Doctors or behavioral specialists, for example, will diagnose a problem and prescribe a treatment. During a medical treatment, a physician might explain that you will need a health coach. Coaches are part of comprehensive care.

Why journaling? Writing down your progress will keep you motivated and help you achieve your goals. Imagine that you set a goal of losing weight. The first week you lose 3 pounds. The second week you lose 2 pounds. But in the third week you don’t lose any weight. You have successfully lost 5 pounds, however, it might be devastating to not see that scale change. It is important to keep track of where you’ve been so you can actually see change and stay motivated.
